Kalabang Gharedi- Your next pocket destination

No doubt Nepal has always been a greater place for tourism. It has abundant possibilities to attract tourists from all around the globe. It hasn’t been long that homestay has been initiated by the Nepalese people basically in rural areas. We the JMDI Host Project team thus came with an idea of developing homestays in 2 villages; Kalabang Gharedi of Kaski and Ranagaon of Tanahaun. Let me tell you why Kalabang Gharedi can be the best homestay for you too.

1.     Beautiful mornings:- Nhe Aal Danda situated at the height of about 1500m above sea level offers you the magnificient view of sunrise and sunset. Besides you can clearly see the snow-caved mountain ranges, hills, green vegetation, the shimmering Phewa Lake and the Pokhara valley at a large. This is the place where you’ll feel the true eternity and peace.

2.   No more long travelling :- Kalabang Gharedi is just few kms away from Pokhara. While it was Pumdi Bhumdi VDC in the past, now it has been annexed to W.N 25 of Pokhara Sub-Metropolitan city. The public buses keep moving routinely. Or you can use your private vehicles for more comfortability because you will have to climb just 2kms stone paved roads from Siddhartha highway (Pokhara-Syangja). The next time you plan to visit Pokhara you should definitely spend your night at Kalabang.

3.  Hospitality like never before:- Hospitality of the villagers is something exemplary feature of Kalabang Gharedi. The villagers will treat you with great courtesy, warm welcome, pleasant stays. You won’t even realize that your heart has already been stolen by the villagers at the end of the trip.

4.     Dive into the world of diverse culture:- This place is highly inhabitated by Gurungs followed by Brahmins and Dalits. They will offer you the glimpses of rich ancient culture, traditions and costumes. At the evening after lunch they will show the Gurungs’ jhyaure, Brahmins’ Bhajan and Dalits’ ratyauli and panche baja in order to make cultural program more exciting.  There are temples, gumbas for place of worship.

5.       As you leave, you complete the research:- It's quite surprising that Kalabang Gharedi can be your place of research too. The villagers have grown coffee in large area of land. They are then sent for further processing into the industry and finally exported to Japan and many other countries. The organic coffee produced in Kalabang Gharedi has been awarded the best by international agencies.

6.       Gutsy people, fearless thoughts :- This village has even possibilities of developing the place as adventure tourism. The cyclists very often come to this place due to its steep, rocky and many other features of the land structures of the place. In a longer run the villagers have also given a thought about paragliding and bungee jump too.

7.       The birthplace of Amrit Gurung:- Who else doesn’t know Nepathya? The lead vocalist of the band Amrit Gurung hails down from the same village. Get into his house and feel the rhythms of his music.
